November 24th Letter

November 24, 2020

Facility Update

In late October, Mari de Villa experienced our first case of Covid-19 within our resident population. Subsequently, we have had more cases among our residents and staff, which have kept updated on our MDVcontact.com website. As of November 24, we currently have 2 residents and 1 staff member with with active cases of Covid-19.
One of the greatest challenges that we have faced with Covid-19 is the delayed presence of symptoms, or absence of symptoms all together.  Our staff and residents are continually monitored for symptoms, however, a majority of individuals present symptoms after testing positive.

Following our first test, we immediately put into place different isolation precautions as well as a strong testing protocol among staff and residents. In many instances, testing has been the only indication that someone has even been infected with the virus.

We will continue to offer the up most transparency and communication throughout this. In the event a resident does test positive, that individual’s family and doctor will be immediately notified.

This has undoubtedly been a challenging time on everyone.  We greatly appreciate everyone’s support and understanding throughout this time.

Calendar Reservations

This Friday, November 27th, we will open the calendar for all future months.  In an effort to allow for all of our residents to have time with their loved ones, we do ask to be considerate when booking over multiple weeks and months. We want to offer as much time as possible for all of our families and do not want limit visits. There is not a minimum or maximum on the number of reservations that you can make throughout a week.

Over the past month we have had to modify all outdoor and window visits in response to the positive cases.  At this time we will continue to avoid window visits in the front of each building.  However, if you still prefer a window visit, you are welcome to visit outside of your loved one’s room.  If you are in need of our staff to provide a phone or iPad for your visit, you will need to make a reservation for that visit as we will need to ensure availability of the devices.

In an effort to make sure that each guest has ample time and that our staff can ensure they have everything setup properly for each reservation, we will be requiring that all reservations take place on the MDVcontact.com

Christmas Food Drive

While it will be modified, the Christmas and Holiday Season will continue to be festive this year! Some of the most enjoyable events that we host each year are the Christmas Tree lighting and the Christmas parties. This year’s events will not go on as they have in the past although we welcome everyone to drive through the grounds and enjoy the main Christmas tree and lights throughout the campus.

In lieu of the traditional Christmas parties that take place during the first week of December, we will be have a two day food drive in the front of the East Building on December 9th and 10th.  All non perishable food, toiletries, diapers, toilet paper, etc will be donated to The Circle of Concern Food Pantry in Valley Park.

There will be a contactless drop off location and you might even see Santa, from a distance of course!

Even though this year is not how we anticipated it to be, we still believe in the mission of Mari de Villa to care for people. There is no obligation to participate.

We understand the concern and severity of the situation. Please know that we are doing everything that we can to care for our residents and staff members during this time.  We will continue to monitor the situation and keep everyone updated accordingly.

Every situation is unique and we are here to work with each resident and family at Mari de Villa. Please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any questions. We appreciate everyone’s understanding throughout all of this.
All of us at Mari de Villa understand this is a very difficult time for our families and we want to do everything we can to ensure that your loved ones are taken care of. We are continuing to provide the same level of care, and then some! Please reach out at anytime for updates, questions, concerns.
As always, we can be reached 24 hours per day. Do not hesitate to reach out at any time.
